There are things you do hate, Lord. Perfume-smellin’ things, lacy things, things with curly hair.
I have a hunch that, if Image Entertainment and Mosfilm were to make the “sad comedies” of Georgi Daneliya more widely available in the United States, this long-heralded giant of Russian cinema would find a broad and immediate fanbase. Still, and until then, I give them credit for making Autumn Marathon perhaps the most international-friendly release ever, with four dubbed versions and almost fifteen subtitle options (Portugese? Arabic? Swedish?) available on one DVD.
